Kyu Shin Do Aikido Aikido · Auckland
Aikido, "The Way of Harmony of Spirit", is a Japanese system of self-defence created by Morihei Ueshiba (1883 - 1969). To those unfamiliar with this gentle, non-aggressive Martial Art, Aikido teaches the principle of yielding, that the softest things can overcome the hardest, that it is difficult to turn back a stream of water but possible to lead it elsewhere. If attacked, the Aikido practitioner would not try to stop a punch by blocking it but would instead step aside and, by diverting the attackers energy, lead them to the ground.

Terran Jiu Jitsu Academy NZJiu Jitsu · Auckland, Matamata, Whangarei
Jiu Jitsu contains aspects of Aikido, Judo and Karate by utilising throws, locks, strangles as well as kicks and punches. Both Aikido and Judo originated from the art of Jiu Jitsu. While no one art is better than the others, everybody is different and therefore look for something specific in a martial art that suits them. Some people like just kicking and punching, some just like throws, for me I need a combination of these and I found them in Jiu Jitsu if this sounds like you then visit my page to learn more.
